Where are we going today?

Nature is beautiful, and it's always great for kids to get out an explore it! At the National Tropical Botanical Garden, you can really spend the day with the family out in a beautiful location!

McBryde Garden is THE place to enjoy a fun, self-guided walking tour - one of the five sites at the National Tropical Botanical Garden. These tours start at the garden's Visitor Center in Poipu, and ALL of the tours begin with a super fun 15 minute tram ride into the stunning Lawai Valley! Amazing!

There are four distinctive walking trails to choose from, each of which will lead your family through an amazing setting with beautiful flowering plans, including gingers, palms, fruit trees and those amazing rare native Hawaiian plants (which you can't find anywhere else so it's a pretty special experience!)

Allow 1hr 45 minutes for the walking tours and the tram ride.  Make sure you allow time for the Lawa Stream, and the Canoe Garden which has plants of ancient Hawaii!

If you want to spend the day around some amazing ancient Jurassic trees, then head on over to have a guided tour at the Allerton Garden! (It was one a retreat of the Queen!) Kids will love looking at the vibrant flowers, flowing water and landscaped designed all tucked away in the secluded Lawa'i Valley. These 2 - 2 1/2 hour tours will take you on unpaved terrain, rock stairs and slopes, so it's a pretty fun and exciting walk!

The National Tropical Botanical Garden is dedicated to preserving all these amazing plants, which helps them from staying around on our lovely planet so it's a great way for kids to learn all about the environment and conservation!

Nature is waiting for the family at the National Tropical Botanical Garden!

We took the self guided tour of McBryde Gardens. Compared to other botanical gardens I've been to it was nothing special. It does not try to be a beautiful ornamental garden. It seems to be more focused on conservation. There are a lot of examples of unique native plants to Hawaii and Kaui. But it does not have that wow factor that makes for a great garden experience.

Our experience was phenomenal!! We had the bestest tour guide in the world. The plants, birds, water, and Jurrassic Park trees were so awesome I peed my pants. I would pay a thousand dollars to do this for the rest of my life. We also got to buy our tour guides nike belt which was super genuine. We also got to smell plants that smelled like gum, it was amazing. I went on this tour with 7 of my friends and we are now called the Allerton Garden Gang for life! This garden beats every other garden in Kauai.
