Where are we going today?

We LOVE animals, and at America's ONLY mountain zoo, you not only get to encounter some incredible creatures, but do so in a magical setting!

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a amazing place for kids AND adults to visit. In addition to all the amazing species of animals, there are some great opportunities to get up close with them too!

There are Zoo Exploration Tours where you will be taken by a zoo team member and share all their behind the scenes stories. There is the eye-opening Animal Care 101 where kids learn how important it is to look after animals int he home, and if they one day want to work in the zoo, try out Zoo Career Day!

For those little animal lovers, there are early childhood programs, as well as early explorers programs which really give kids a kick start on their animal educations. And teens aren't forgotten either! Through experiences like Zoo Crew and Junior Zoo Keeper - great for those kids aged 12 to 17 - they can really learn what it means to take care of animals.

And of course, there are the animals themselves! Where to start! From mammals such as elephants, tigers, lions, monkeys, zebras and wolves, to a whole range of reptiles, fish and birds, kids will really get a sense of what amazing species we share our planet with.

Some of the exhibits at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo are quite interactive too! If you visit My Big Backyard kids get to play on giant plants, and garden furniture, as well as feel the soft fur of a rabbit or a guinea pig. If you love birds, then head on over to the Budgie Buddies exhibit where you can walk among the Australia parakeets and other beautiful birds - they may even eat from your hand!

A beautiful, animal experience with a breathtaking backdrop, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a great family day out option in Denver.

This is a fabulous zoo. My husband and I have been to a lot of great zoos-- Columbus, Cleveland, San Diego, Riverbanks--and initially thought we would skip the zoo, but this one is right up there. Feeding the giraffes was SUCH a great experience--so I did it twice, at the beginning and end of the visit. :) Nearly all of the animals were active the afternoon we visited which is very rare, probably due to the comfortable temperatures (not to mention how comfortable is was for us as visitors!). We didn't find hiking the mountain zoo to be particularly...Read More

A wonderful zoo with a good variety of animals. The best thing about this zoo is how close you can get to the animals. Literally face to face with most of the animals.

Coupled with stunning views over Colorado Springs this is great value for money.

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a fantastic place to visit! I've visited the zoo several times over the years and love it every time.

The exhibits are beautifully created and I feel like I get to see the animals in a setting that resembles nature. The staff and volunteers there are friendly and dedicated to taking great care of the animals and guests.

A great place for all to visit!

The good - The staff we interacted with were awesome and they all really seem like they enjoy their job. The animals were awesome and it was great for my kid to get up close and personal with some of the animals. The price wasn't too bad for my budget. The food is probably the best food I have ever eaten at a zoo!

The bad - The buildings either didn't have working AC or they didn't have them on, and it was hot! Even if it wasn't hot outside, it seems you would want air circulating in the buildings with animals. I won't complain too much about...Read More

Lovely zoo at the mountain. Best part is you get to interact with so many of the animals. One of the best section was Budgie Buddies where you get to interact with so many birds closely. Even Kangaroos, Giraffes, Gorillas, Elephants .. all were so interactive. It was one of a kind experience.

We didn't find hiking the mountain zoo to be particularly difficult because everything is well-paved. The views of Colorado Springs were breathtaking. Great variety of animals, nicely updated, really fun, so glad we went! Even petted a baby wallaby. Highly recommend!!

I won't complain too much about some of the animals not available for display, but there were quite a few not out.

Overall good experience and my family would definitely visit the zoo again!!
