It was nice, very nice art, but once for me is enough. If you are close by, you should stop and look for yourself...

We stopped without any expectations as we were passing through-just wanted to see what art was happening in Bakersfield. Wow, were we blown away by the great art and curation. A nice mix of local and international artists. The different exhibits meant there was something for every taste. You can easily spend a couple hours and come away refreshed!

I live on the central coast, so Bakersfield is quite a trek for me. But when I find myself there, rather than head to the run-down downtown area, I always stop to check out the exhibits at the art museum. It's quiet, cheap, and has a nice easy layout (no labyrinthine museum corridors).
And the building itself easily the most interesting in the whole city. Definitely the highlight of any trip through Bakersfield.
