Peak Rail is a heritage railway that runs through the stunning countryside of Derbyshire in England. It offers visitors the chance to experience a unique and nostalgic journey on a historic steam train, while enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding Peak District National Park.

The railway began operations in 1984, following the closure of the Midland Railway line between Matlock and Buxton. The volunteers worked tirelessly to restore the tracks, stations, and rolling stock, and in 1997 the railway was officially opened to the public.

The railway offers a variety of ticket options, including single and return journeys, as well as family and group tickets. Visitors can also purchase an annual membership for the railway, which provides unlimited access to the railway for a year.

One of the highlights of a trip to Peak Rail is the opportunity to ride on a historic steam train. The railway has a range of locomotives and carriages, each with their own unique history and character. The engines include a 1905 built Andrew Barclay 0-4-0ST, a 1944 built Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0ST, and a 1957 built BR Standard 2MT 2-6-0. The carriages include both first and third-class options, with the latter providing the perfect opportunity to experience a true slice of history.

For visitors looking for something a little more special, Peak Rail also offers a dining experience aboard their luxurious Pullman Dining Train. The train features elegant carriages, each with its own unique history, and a menu of delicious meals made with locally-sourced ingredients. It's an experience that is sure to make any visitor feel like royalty!
