About this activity

Molly Gallivan's Farm and Cottage is a 200 year old cottage and traditional farm where you'll experience the simple country lifestyle in Ireland, before the days electricity! The farm has animals and traditional farm machinery and you can also visit the ghostly ruines of a family of the Great Famine! There's over 5000 years of history all on a 500 metre walk.

Take a walk around Mollys cottage and see how she lived all those years ago. The farmyard has cows, pigs, hens and more and you can get up close to the often friendly animals.

The Poitin Still is where Molly distilled her whiskey which you can visit and the sheep house is where the sheep were once wrapped up against all weather conditions.

There's the famine ruin which stands as a reminder of the extreme poverty many people faces and the Neolithic Stone Row gives us clues of the rituals of our early ancestors.

There's also the lime kilk which was used for a variety of purposes such as making mortar and the oasts and barley field where the straw was used for bedding. Visit the ducks in the duck pong and the orchard where apples grow - there's lots to see!

You can enjoy one of their guided tours where you'll be brought on a journey through times. You can also have a go at making traditional Irish soda bread - you can even have a go at turf cutting too!

They also have traditional Irish evenings where you'll experience food, music, songs, dance and stories whilst taking in the traditions and tales. They complete the evening with an Irish coffee making demonstration which makes for a great experience!
