Where are we going today?

The USS Turner Joy (DD-951), famed Navy destroyer from the Vietnam War, is now maintained and administered by the Bremerton Historic Ships Association. The museum ship and memorial honors not only the men and women of our modern US Navy, but also recognizes the accomplishments of those who help build and maintain the Navy's ships as well. An active and educational facility makes the USS Turner Joy a unique and lasting legacy to Puget Sound's maritime heritage. We welcome you onboard the USS Turner Joy.

Great experience because most of the actual shipboard equipment was left in tact.

Kids were 5, 3 and 1 when we took them there. Oldest still talks about it by name, middle talks about the "big gun" and the youngest doesn't know any different. They may not know Vietnam War history but when they learn it in high school they will remember this ship's place in it. Boardwalk nearby has coffee, ice cream and good eats. If weather is good, then an outstanding place to spend the afternoon.

A memorable tour. I know. Not much verbiage, but when something is so good, words won't do it justice. As a Viet Nam Vet, I appreciated the tour and all the hours many volunteers have offered to make it what it was for me - memorable. Thanks. War may be hell, but freedom isn't free; never has been, never will be.
