About Frye Art Museum

Did you know that Seattle's Frye Art Museum is the city's ONLY free art museum? That means there is no reason not to visit on your next family day out!

The Frye Art Museum is located in the First Hill neighborhood, and has been welcoming art loving families since all the way back in 1952!

Today, the Frye Art Museum prides itself on hosting various exhibits that showcase and reflect Seattle's evolving identity, and also showcasing local and global artists exploring the issues of our time AND exhibits that also explore contemporary viewpoints on historical subject matter. 

The Frye Art Museum is a wonderful place for kids to be inspired, and feel creative as they discover exhibits that uncover new voices, facilitate conversation, and offer a forum for relevant social dialogues.

This Seattle favorite also offers a chance for kids to actively become imvolved too!

They offer a free program for children ages three to five years old (and their caregivers) presented in partnership with Seattle Children's Theatre meaning drama and art can be explored, and also build their confidence!

The museum also offer Community Days, where families and friends of all ages can participate and join various special museum-wide events. Here you can dive deeper into the museum's current exhibitions through gallery activities, as well as guided tours, hands-on art-making projects, and so much more!

I’m Hungry! Can I get food at Frye Art Museum?

Cafe Frieda is a great pit stop for those rumbling tummies or coffee loving parents, with a great menu of sandwiches, soups and snacks.

Any top tips when visiting?

Frye in Focus tours are available Saturdays and Sundays at 1 pm, meeting in the Rotunda. These short-form, 30-minute tours focus on a single exhibition at a time. Private tours are available Wednesday through Sunday between 11 am and 4 pm at an additional cost

Teachers corner

The museum is GREAT for kids! Check out the many workshops, classes and programs available which follow the curriculum and some also offer kids hands on creative fun

Does Frye Art Museum have healthy eating or Vegan options?

There are healthy options on the menu with plenty of salads!
