It's all about visiting those adorable creatures from all over the world at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium!

Kids can meet creatures from the far reaches of the planet, and even from the depths of the oceans. It's a fun day with the family, with learning experiences topping off a great day!

There are a number of exhibits that showcase these beautiful creatures.

Head to the Asian Forest Sanctuary, set across 5 beautiful areas. Kids can come face to face with the Asian elephant, as well as the Clouded leopard, and even Malaysian tapir. Have you every heard of the Lowland anoa or the Siamang? That's where the learning comes into play!

The beloved creatures of the Rocky Shores can be found at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium too, with playful otters and puffins ready to say hi.

Kids can explore the wonders of the Arctic Tundra, and see some stunning Arctic foxes, as well as massive muskox, and even those iconic polar bears!

Let's not forget your journey doesn't just stay on the land, with the aquarium filled with the weird and wonderful from the deep. There's a world of sharks, coral reefs, octopus and fish waiting for you!

And you don't even need to get wet!

Make sure you make a stop at the Kids Zone, where kids can climb, move and play in the Magical Movement area. They can also meet meerkats, lemurs, snakes and more at Animal Avenue.

A fun packed day out with the kids, where you just might walk away with new friends!

Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium FAQ’s

Conservation is at the heart of everything the zoo and aquarium do. They support projects that conserve threatened species and habitats, and also work with Dr. Holly Reed Wildlife Conservation Fund.

Strollers are not allowed inside the Aquarium.

They have a number of places to grab delicious foods! The quick-service cafe offers sandwiches, pizza, desserts and hot dogs, the Sea Grille is open May to September, and there are sweet treats too!

You'll find high quality creations in the Zoo's gift shop, perfect for any budget. Browse through unique gifts from local artisans, handmade jewelry, plush toys, t-shirts and sweatshirts and locally produced products.

They have great programs for kids, adults and students, so just check them out online as there's a great variety!

Strollers are not allowed inside the Aquarium.

All exhibit areas, restaurants, gift shop and main restrooms are ADA accessible. ADA parking is located in parking lot A.

You can help animals by turning off your car when stopped for more than 30 seconds. Small actions make a big difference!
