Where are we going today?

It's theme park time! No, it should be water park time....wait!

What if there was a place that was a theme park AND a water park!? Welcome to Carowinds!

Carowinds is a HUGE water and theme park in one, located in Charlotte. There are over 100 incredible state of the art rides, shows and movie-themed experiences for ALL ages!

There is a great range of amusements too that a few age groups can enjoy, so the whole family can get stuck in.

For over 40 years, Carowinds has been giving families an amazing family day out, so you know you're in good hands! Which is great to hear...because there are thrill rides and you will need to be brave for them!

How about Fury 325, where you are taken up 325 feet at up to 95 miles per hour. Pretty amazing (and scary!) If that doesn't intimidate you...maybe the Intimidator will! Hold your stomach as you make your way down a 211 foot drop, at speeds of up to 75mph. One of the tallest and fastest coasters in the entire SW!

The Afterburn will suspend you, the Cobra will twist you and the Nighthawk will have you flying face down! Scary stuff - be brave!

Of course, Carowinds has a great number of family and kiddie rides too, so no-one misses out! Planet Snoopy is perfect for all those little ones with carousels, Charlie Browns workshop swings and hot air balloon races.

Don't forget to make a SPLASH at Boomerang Bay, with twisters, waves, and slides! An amazing day!

Carowinds is the perfect adventure for the whole family, because there is always something for everyone!

Have a great time!

Had a wonderful time at Scarowinds! Took 10 and 13 yr. old and was really impressed how much they went all out w/ scary costumes and dressing the place up very nicely. We went on a Sunday night and lines were very short. We rode a couple of the coasters 2 and 3 times in a row. Buy your tickets online and save some money. We spent less than $200 for a night the kids will never forget. Thats a reasonable amount in my opinion. Was not impressed w/ the cinnabons. Just saying.

While visiting some relatives down south, my mum, dad, little brother, uncle, aunt, and cousins all went to Carowinds. We did have a very enjoyable time, Planet Snoopy was perfect for my little cousin (who's 4) and me and my dad who go for more extreme rides, went on the Nighthawk, Carolina Cobra, Intiminator, Carolina Cyclone, and most of the very high thrill rides and they were so great! I loved going to Carowinds and would recommend it to any family that just wants to have a fun day at an amusement park! :-)

Great! Went on a Monday in June. Lines were not long at all, with the exception of the Nighthawk (30+ minutes). Some rides had no wait! Admission is not cheap, but you do get a lot for your money, including the waterpark. You can easily spend a whole day there. I do not recommend riding the Southern Star; the restraints are painful and make breathing difficult. Also, the food in the park is ridiculously expensive. Some of the staff are friendly; some are not. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and would like to go back.

As far as the rides and attractions go, we really enjoyed our time at Carowinds. We went on a Wednesday in late July; most of the lines were fairly short, although the line at Nighthawk was about an hour wait. Dinosaurs Alive was pretty nice, if you have kids I highly recommend it. The water park was lots of fun as well. Online, they aren't too clear about what you're supposed to do with your bags on rides. When we got there we discovered they do usually have a (somewhat unsecured) area to sit your bags when you're getting on a ride. If you're planning...Read More

Fun rides. Most of the games or exhibits that you would have to pay extra for, were affordable.

With that being said, the food, snacks and beverages are so completely overpriced, it is ridiculous. $15 for a combo, you could get at any shopping mall food court for $5 or less!! If they were serving better food, I could (maybe) see the reason for the prices, but they were LITERALLY laughable.

Granted, I haven't been to a theme park in some time, and I am well acquainted with inflation etc... but I can think of a few other theme parks that are far...Read More

If you're planning on going to the water park (and you should!), I would recommend renting a locker at Boomerang Bay when you first get in Carowinds. The map is somewhat difficult to follow, and they don't provide a decent online map to study before you go (the only one is so tiny you can't possibly read it!) Another minor thing that was somewhat annoying was the fact that we purchased a Ride & Refresh ticket, but were NOT informed that there was a 60-minute wait between the included drinks. The wait didn't really matter, but it seems dishonest for them not to mention it. The single meal ticket we bought really didn't save us money, about a dollar per person. Now we can get to the only reason I knocked off an entire point from my review: THE SERVICE! Almost EVERY employee we encountered was rude, unfriendly, and unhelpful. When going up to get a drink, ask a question, or anything, we were often fairly glared at before being given a short, snippy response. We actually left the first restaurant we came to, after being told by a particularly rude employee that they "didn't have any condiments or toppings for their burgers." When charging $15 a person for a burger and fries, I would kind of like a drop of ketchup! We decided to get a little souvenir before we left. The souvenir shop unexpectedly had a certain type of mug on sale for $1 each, so you might want to check the shops out closely for clearance items.

So, to summarize:
Main Park Rides: 5 star
Water Park Rides: 5 star
Service: 1 star
Food: 2 star

Great place for locals who live close by, and can get season passes though. Not really worth the 2+hrs. drive for me however!
