About Tree Hill Nature Center

If you want to connect with nature, then the Tree Hill Nature Center in Jacksonville is the place you want to be! It's perfect for families, and with 50 acres of nature, gardens, trails and ever a butterfly house, there is plenty of room for everyone!

Tree Hill Nature Center was created to promote the environment to the community via hands-on programs, as well as access to natural spaces. And it worked!

Get those walking shoes on, because nature is waiting! There are three lovely walking trails - each one around 1/3 mile each - that will allow you to just take your time and take in the nature around you.

A museum in a nature center? There is in Jacksonville! Tree Hill also features a hands-on kids museum which allows the whole family to explore the natural history of Florida, as well as very sweet and colorful butterfly and hummingbird gardens. There is also a seasonal live butterfly exhibit where you might be lucky and have those sweet little creatures flutter right past your face!

Did we mention the live animals!? Kids will love making friends with all of the animals Tree Hill has, from turtles, gopher tortoises, chickens, goats, snakes, possums, a gator, and even a barred owl!

If you're around when the annual Butterfly Festival is on, that's worth checking out too! They have education booths, games, music, vendors, craft items...and then butterfly releasing! It's a pretty cool experience!

Nature is such a wonderful thing, so have an enjoyable and relaxing family day out surrounded by it!
