Memories come alive and stories are told of days gone by at the Minnesota Fishing Museum, with a collection of over 10,000 artifacts all related to fishing in the glorious state of Minnesota, all beautifully displayed and lovingly maintained!
Fishing has always been an important role within the lives of Minnesotans, and likely a popular pastime of your family today!
From as early as Native Americans who called the land home long before the earliest settlers - and the early settlers themselves - when it comes to fishing in Minnesota, it's in a class of its own!
Did you know that this beautiful state has 4 millions acres of water, and 18,000 miles of rivers, waterways and streams? In fact, Minnesota is known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes, which you can learn all about when you visit this fun museum!
During your time at the Minnesota Fishing Museum, you can learn all about the significant impact fishing has had on the economy, the history and the heritage.
The exhibits aren't just "collections of old fishing items", but instead a collection of historical possessions that once belonged to those people who lived across the state, and became part of the fishing history.
Also at the Minnesota Fishing Museum you can see a log cabin set that recreates an old time fish camp, as well as a large diorama that depicts a typical spearing dark house on a frozen lake!
You can see various anglers tackle boxes and how they have changed over the years, and even motors dating back from 1902!
You can't have a fishing museum without an aquarium filled with native fish, so make sure you stop and see the beautiful fish too!
So let's cast off for that fun and fascinating family day out in Little Falls, and go fishing for some family fun!
