Elachee Nature Science Center

Gainesville, GA

Where are we going?

Elachee Nature Science Center
2125 Elachee Drive

What is there to do?

It's time to re-discover the great outdoors at Georgia's Elachee Nature Science Center!

Set within the 1,440 acres of Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve, kids can find enchantment in what Mother Nature has created, in one of the state's largest protected green spaces.

Great for families and nature-lovers alike, and there is SO much to do as you see nature come alive!

The Elachee Visitor Center is a great place to start your journey, where you can ask questions and learn what there is to explore in the nature science center.

Kids can meet snakes, turtles and other species in the Live Animal Exhibit, or you can witness Live Bee Hives and learn all about bees and pollination in the Pollinator Pass Exhibit!

There are seasonal special events throughout the year, such as the Raptor Fest, Snake Day and Great Backyard Bird Count! There's more wildlife to be enjoyed at the Outdoor Aviary, or those little ones can explore the accessible Storybook Trail, great for playing along with parents too!

Of course, a trip to Elachee Nature Science Center wouldn't be complete without exploring the many hiking trails too! The Ed Dodd self-guided trail is great for exploring the diverse forest and topography of the nature preserve, and the rest (around 12 miles of them!) ensure you get to experience various landscapes such as streams, wetlands, lakes and woodlands!

Kids can learn about composting in the demonstration site, or the E-House teaches about solar-powered energy conservation.

It's a day in nature PLUS plenty of educational opportunities about conservation, environment and sustainability for the kids at Elachee Nature Science Center.

C'mon kids, let's get exploring!

How much does it cost?

Adults: Daily parking fee is $5 per vehicle or $10 for 15-passenger vans and buses

Need a little extra help?

The Storybook Trail is accessible. Stop by the Visitor Center to speak to staff about the rest of the accessible areas within the center
