About this activity

Did you know that Colt State Park is actually often known as the "Gem of the State Parks System"? There's a reason!

Your day out could be spent in 464 acres of curving driveways next to pristine lawns and historic stone walls, all of which is actually along one of Rhode Island's most incredible shorelines!

It's also a fun place to be! Ever year, since all the way back in 1785, Colt State Park and the town of Bristol host a national celebration. Can you guess what day this would happen on? July 4th of course!

The park itself is open all year round, so there are no excuses not to visit! There are four miles of gorgeous bike trails for those active children in the family, most of which pass along that stunning Bay - get ready for some amazing views!)

The park is FILLED with places to run, and play. There are beautiful flowering bushes, and colorful fruit trees.

If you love history, then you will LOVE the park too! Who would have thought you would find a historical museum there - but there is! There are also TEN (kids, count them...TEN!) large playfields, so why not take some ball games or just have a run around.

Why not really make a day at Colt State Park and take a picnic lunch, and enjoy them at one of the many (and by many we mean over 400!) picnic tables they have just for families like you!

A lovely, active and nature filled day out in Rhode Island. Don't forget your camera - there will be a lot of memories created!
