A range of trees can be found, including oak, beech, ash and silver birch. Take your camera and see which ones you can spot!
Whippendell Wood is famous for its stunning displays of bluebells in the spring too which are prominent around April and May time. There's also some rare fungus too including Crepidotus cinnabarinus which has only been recorded on three other occasions in the whole of Europe!
The area also is part of the Watford 10k race, which takes place on May Day bank holiday and passes through the woods when the bluebell display is at it's best.
You'll also find large bomb craters throughout the woods which are from the second world war. Did you know that sections of Star Wars were filmed here too?! Along with lots of other TV shows and films.
