Whinlatter Forest is England's only true mountain forest, with stunning views, walks, rare wildlife to see and adventure play for the kids! It's set within the Lake District and it's a great opportunity to get outdoors.
You'll find Gruffalo sculptures here at the forest as you venture into the woods! Each sculpture is carved in a different position, so see if you can find them all. Make sure to take some pictures along the way!
Why not check out the wildplay playground! You can swing, slide, splash and climb on the children's trail through the trees with nine different play zones in total. You can test your engineering skills on the Archimedes Screws, and even draw water from the steam. Work as a team to move gravel using pulleys too! Test your strength on the climbing wall and timber climbing frame or swing on the log swing! The facilities are set along a trail throughout the forest.
Did you know you can walk with alpacas here too?
Trai through the forest and get to know the alpacas along the way, take part in feeding time and learn all about the incredible creatures. Make sure to pre book before you arrive! It's suitable for ages ten years and over.
From Keswick, take the A66 west towards Cockermouth. At Braithwaite village, turn west onto the B5292 for Lorton. Follow Whinlatter Visitor Centre signposts for approximately 3 miles
