Stagshaw Garden and Ambleside is a family fun adventure, right in the heart of the Lake District. There are informal woodland gardens, roman forts and plenty of woods to explore with the whole family.
The informal woodland garden is a great chance to relax and take in the views of the lakes and countryside. The garden has lots of unusual trees and plants and lots to delight the selenses! You'll also find a semi-open woodland renowned for it's vast displays of bluebells and daffodils and was once owned by William Wordsworth.
Bridge House is one of the area's most famous buildings and attracts thousands of visitors each year. It's a small 17th century buildings and you'll get to learn all about the story of the building and the connection with the Armitts.
Take a walk to a Roman Fort or take a walk along some of the most popular walks in the country! There's plenty for all abilities. The Ambleside Champion Tree Trail is a 45 minute circular walk through the woods, and you can follow the tree symbols and stop off for a picnic too.
There's lots of opportunities to reconnect with nature, go on nature walks and explore the stunning area!
Junction 36 on M6. The A591 is the busiest tourist driving route right though the heart of the Lake District, where you can access carparks near Stagshaw Garden and Skelghyll Woods, Bridge House and Ambleside Roman Fort.
