About this activity

The Tower of London is one of the most iconic historical sites in the world. Dating back to the 11th century, the Tower has been home to kings and queens, prisoners and executioners, and even bears and lions. It is an incredible testament to the history of Britain, and a must-visit destination for any traveller.

The best way to explore the Tower of London is to start at the Tower Bridge Exhibition. This exhibition is housed in the Victorian-era engine rooms that once powered the iconic Tower Bridge, and offers an in-depth look at the history of the Tower of London. From here, you can either walk through the exhibition and explore the Tower Bridge before crossing the Thames, or you can use the indoor pedestrian crossing next to the bridge.

Once you've crossed the Thames, you can explore the rest of the Tower of London. You can either opt to follow the path through the grounds (which will take you past the moat, the White Tower, the Bloody Tower, and other important locations), or you can use the free audio guides available at the entrance to learn more about the various sights.

The Tower of London is home to a variety of tours and experiences. You can take a tour of the Crown Jewels, visit the Tower's Royal Armouries, or enjoy a delicious high tea in the towers. You can also book special experiences such as a Yeoman Warder tour, a raven-feeding tour, or a special Behind the Scenes tour. Or, you can even attend a special performance at the Tower of London, including a special Shakespeare performance or a Concert of the Spikes.
