About this activity

See history come to life and LIVE it at Butser Ancient Farm! This unique Hampshire attraction is an experimental archaeology site that features unique and historically accurate archaeological reconstructions of ancient buildings from various dates in history, including the Stone Age, Iron Age, Bronze Age, Roman Britain and the Anglo-Saxon period!

Butser Ancient Farm is great for kids too, as they have a focus on education!

The buildings at the farm are a great way for kids to learn about history and those who lived in various times, as well of the buildings are all based on evidence from archaeological excavations. The team actually test theories about the technologies, as well what building techniques would have been used, and various ways of life of ancient people.

It's a great way for families to learn about and connect with our ancient past in a hands on and fun way!

Butser Ancient Farm also have some great events throughout the season (that often sell out so get in quick!), including Beltain Celtic Fire Festival, Angle Saxon Easter, and Roman Reenactment weekends! These are always great fun and many geared for kids!
