La Citadelle is the largest British fortress built in North America. A unique location, it is an active military garrison, some of whose walls enclose 300 years of military history in Quebec City spanning the French, British and Canadian periods
The guided tours of the museum reveals more than 300 years of history. You'll be guided through the fotress, active garrision and you'll immerse yourself in the spectacular architecture of the buildings and views of the city and river. One of the permanent exhibition recournts 100 years of the Royal 22 Regiment, the only French language infantry regiment in the Canadian Regular Army. You'll discover the lives of the soldiers who served and are still serving in its ranks since 1914, until the missions in Afgahnistan. The exibit is interactive and will give you a better understanding of the heritage and history through interviews, videos and battle maps.
There are also lots of educational activities for for all school ages. Immerse yourself in the history of Cap Diamant through its occupants and it'll reveal the importance of the city and the uniqueness of the Citadelle. Discover the many objects and learn all about the history of the area and so much more.
Access by car is via the Côte de la Citadelle, to the right of the Porte Saint-Louis, in Old Quebec.
