Choo Choo! Kids, are you ready to embark on a journey into Australia's fascinating railway history at the National Railway Museum?
In fact, the National Railway Museum is the country's largest undercover railway museum, home to over 100 exhibits that represent the State, Commonwealth and private railway operators across the three major rail gauges used in Australia!
Kids can marvel at the size of giant steam engines, as the family walk through elegant carriages, see locomotives up close, and enjoy a fun train rides as well as interactive and educational displays!
Those curious minds can channel their inner conductor as they climb aboard and play with the interactives on the iconic Tea and Sugar Train, before learning how the train helped and serviced isolated communities along the iconic Nullarbor Plain.
What's also great about the National Railway Museum, is that you can also see displays that highlight the variety of scenery and terrain through which the railways have operated!
Don't miss a chance for the family to enjoy a ride around the Museum on a free small train, included in price of Museum admission. Plus kids can also enjoy playing with interactive bells, levers and buttons too!

The Museum is about a 15 minute walk from the Port Adelaide Railway Station on the Outer Harbor Line. From the Station, walk north along Commercial Road, turn right into Godfrey or Butler Street, the Museum is directly ahead on Lipson Street.

A change table is available in the women’s toilets and in the accessible toilet. The Museum does not currently have a dedicated breastfeeding area, however breastfeeding is welcome at the Museum. There are seating areas located around the Museum site.
The Museum has covered outdoor eating areas with tables and chairs, and you are welcome to bring your own food and drink. There are also vending machines onsite containing snack foods, cold and hot drinks.
The surrounding area also has a number of eateries too!
The Museum offers many learning opportunities for schools and students, and their packs and activities are all aligned with the Australian Curriculum!
