Where are we going today?

Flamingo Gardens is a 60 acre, not-for-profit botanical garden and wildlife sanctuary, where thousands of rare, exotic and native plants live among Florida’s largest collection of Champion Trees.

Take a narrated tram tour through the wetlands, hardwood hammock and rainforest areas and visit alligators, river otters, bobcats, panthers and flamingos in the Everglades nature center. Feed the 70 species of Florida native birds in the Free-Flight Aviary and tour our 1930’s Wray Home Museum.

Flamingo Gardens is a must for a family day in the sunshine. Wildlife Encounter Shows are daily and give you an up close and personal look at some of our animal friends.

Good deals in the market, great photo opportunities. No pressure sales just walk through and pick what you want. Great experience for my son and me.

Absolutely love this place, very family-friendly. Will return many times in the future! This place helps rehabilitate animals. It is NOT A ZOO. It is a wildlife sanctuary, with a great selection of Florida wildlife, including a wildlife encounter show. The entire place takes you back in time, to the old Florida which is largely disappeared from the rest of South Florida. The botanical gardens are beautiful, with diverse and rare tropical plants and trees from around the world. Flamingo Gardens is worth every cent of the entrance fee, and...Read More

Exotic plants and trees abound - in fact some big juicy star fruit tried to jump on our heads as we passed beneath the trees. definitely a quitter alternative to the zoo with fewer animals, a calm atmosphere. Big enough for a good walk but small enough for toddlers and the elderly to maneuver the grounds. Good selection of animals and a nice gift shop and snack bar.

Flamingos are bright and beautiful, wildlife guide is fun and informative, care for ailing animals is appealing. Didn't get to go on the tram because last tram time was not posted - missed it - but have been on it before and it's restful and interesting. However, three days after my visit two fingers on my right hand are still itching and painful; swelling just went down some this morning; band-aids have to protect the pistules from becoming more infected. I was attacked by red ants living in the bird food pellets (25 cents per half handful). Friends...Read More

I was attacked by red ants living in the bird food pellets (25 cents per half handful). Friends back home thought I could be poisoned due to the hurtful swelling that made it hard to use my hand. Seems like folks who care for wounded animals would protect humans from being attacked by the poisonous red ants!!! Grandkids, daughter and I finally learned to use paper maps to catch the pellets and be wary of red ants!!!
