About this activity

History comes to life at Century Village Museum! Run by the Geauga County Historical Society, the village is a true representation of a Western Reserve Village as it was all the way back in 1798, to the end of the 19th Century.

It's a great educational experience for the whole family! At the Century Village Museum, there are over twenty fascinating and historically authentic buildings that you can explore. To tell the stories of the past, there are over 15,000 museum artifacts that you can get right up close to.

As you walk round and look at the artifacts, think about the kind of names and faces that would have gone with them. Who were the people behind them? It's great for the kids imagination and to really bring a deeper layer to history! Some of the artifacts include antiques, textiles and original art from the 1800s. Pretty amazing!

The Century Village Museum also has a working farm, as well as a sugar bush that makes maple syrup. There are over 10 festivals that are held at the museum each year, so make sure you put these in your diary!

Guided tours for the museum take place between April and November on weekends. These 90 - 120 minute tours let you gain that little bit more insight into the history of those these people used to live centuries ago, and it's a great way to ask questions!

Why read about history, when you can go back and re-live it! A fascinating, historical and educational day out for all ages in Ohio!
