Impressive museum and grounds high atop the cliffs. If you’re not that much into military history, skip the museum tour and just visit the promenade path outside the walls of the complex without paying the fee. You can walk along the boardwalk trail from here to the Chateau Frontenac (or vice versa) and enjoy spectacular views of the water below.

For the colder months of the year we’d give this place a 4-Star (“Liked it”) instead of the 5-Star (“Loved it”) because you’d miss the changing of the guard – and that’s what we really love about the place. Nevertheless the place is popular with our student groups year round, citadels always impress! Make sure to take the tour (though the guides range in skill/personality from acceptable to outstanding) as you get to seem some very interesting parts of the place with a guide. Take along your camera, there are some fantastic vantage points of the river and the city.

Just Beautiful. Quebec is a very unique North American city, in large part to the Citadelle walls.

Great historical place, showing the history behind Quebec city and its struggle with Americans coming from the south. Also considering its almost in the heart of the city, it is very easy to get to and from.
