What is there to do?

Kids, there is not only a museum in Hartford that is dedicated JUST to you having a great time and learning through their many exhibits, but there is also a planetarium and lots of amazing animals too!

The Children's Museum offers hands-on fun for curious and playful kids, with science and nature themes running throughout. Ideal for younger children and families, the exhibits encourage kids to become creative thinkers and lifelong learners.

There are interactive labs, workshops, demonstrations and multi-sensory exhibits. Imagination Playground features oversized blocks where kids can build, explore and express themselves. Those younger learners under 4 years can enjoy Critter Crossing, with kiddie sized toys and play structures, with a beautiful backdrop of Connecticut landscape!

The Children's Museum features a colorful exhibit on light, and there is even room for dinosaurs in your playful day too in another exhibit!

We mentioned that there was a live wildlife sanctuary too, plus immerse themselves in nature.Kids can meet adorable terrains, slithering snakes, learn about compost, discover the wonders of forest, and hear talks too!  And yes, you can explore the universe in the planetarium too!

Need a little extra help?

Although they do not have elevators, they do provide access to those with special needs through outside entrances on each level. You are welcome to call ahead or ask an associate at the admissions desk to make arrangements for assistance in touring the museum.

Winter Hours: 9am - 4pm Tuesday to Saturday, 11am - 4pm Sunday (Check online for summer hours)

Closed Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, & Easter Day
