It's all about having a WILD time in Idaho Falls at the Idaho Falls Zoo at Tautphaus Park!

Here, kids can spend the day exploring all the animals of the world, as well as ones they might not have realized were so close to home! In fact, there are nearly 300 animals that you can say hi to on your next family day out.

You can encounter more than 28 Africa species in the zoo, from those grand lions to those beautiful zebras. Kids can watch the flock of threatened African Penguins or admire those unusual lemurs. 

They can discover Asia and their many endangered species, including sloth bears and snow leopards. Part of the zoo experience is also learning about conservation, and how it's important to look after the animals on our plant. An invaluable education!

Head Down Under and experience those wallabies hop, or hear a kookaburra laugh. Make sure you check out the North America exhibit too, where you might just be surprised what is right on your doorstep!

Stop by the Children's Zoo and pat a donkey, feed a lamb or just relax on a bench and enjoy the beautifully landscaped grounds. 

Idaho Falls Zoo also have some great events throughout the year, which you can look forward to! From Enrichment Day, to Late Night Fridays, Boo At The Zoo and even celebrating World Oceans Day, there are a host of special days out at the zoo for the kids and the family.

I’m Hungry! Can I get food at Idaho Falls Zoo at Tautphaus Park?

The concession stand, Kookaburra Kafe, is located next to the picnic area and the bathrooms.

Any top tips when visiting?

They have daily penguin feeds at 10am and 4pm, so make sure you check one of those out when you visit!

Does Idaho Falls Zoo at Tautphaus Park have a gift shop?

The gift shop offers an array of zoo-themed gifts, t-shirts and toys so make sure you take that pocket money!

Teachers corner

They have tax exempt school group rates, as well as seasonal programs geared towards kids aged 2 to 13. If you can't make it to the zoo, you can schedule bringing the zoo to your classroom too!

Is Idaho Falls Zoo at Tautphaus Park fully accessible?

The zoo is ADA Accessible and they have electric wheelchairs that can be rented for $5 each, or manual ones available free on a first come first served basis.
