About New Mexico Military Museum

The New Mexico Military Museum is a fascinating museum for families to visit in Santa Fe, as it's a place where the military history of the state is discovered, preserved, and outlined for all who visit to learn about.

The museum's goal is to strengthen the public understanding of how conflicts of the past have shaped the state of New Mexico and how these conflicts will continue to influence the future.

During your visit you'll be able to explore the various collections that tell the story of the events and the people that have made New Mexico (and the world) what it is today.

Formerly the Bataab Memorial Museum, the exhibits at the New Mexico Military Museum cover a range of topics to ensure a deep and engaging learning experience. You can learn about the New Mexico Civil War, and track the states and journey the Battle of Glorieta Pass through a fascinating interactive touch-screen display.

Art! of War showcases revolving artworks from non-veteran and veteran artists that depict and showcase military experiences, history and life, and the museum also has an outdoor area that is a must to explore. The Transport Yard is located near the back of the museum and features REAL items that were used by the New Mexico National Guard across the past century!

What's also a great stop is the Meditation Garden, dedicated to units from New Mexico that have been mobilized in Federal Service of the USA.
