About Gulf State Park

Do you fancy spending your next family day out in 6,150 acres of beautiful Alabama nature, complete with two miles of sugar white sand beaches? Welcome to Gulf State Park! Where to start with what Gulf State Park has to offer! Well, the Nature Center makes sense! A stop here can get you up close and personal some of the local wildlife, and they also host weekly nature programs too! Any questions you have about your visit, it's the place to ask!

Fancy some adventure? There is so much to do, you never really need to leave the park! There are kayak and paddleboard rentals if you fancy getting out on the water, or check out the Segway tours and bike rentals.  There are 25 miles of paved trails if you fancy a nature filled stroll too. 

Parasailing trips, geocaching, and weekly activities are all features at Gulf State Park for those adventurous and playful families.

One of Gulf State Parks greatest attractions is the saltwater pier. It is the largest pier on the Gulf of Mexico at 1540ft, and offers indoor retail area for tackle and souvenirs, comfort stations at the midpoint of the pier and wheelchair accessible rail fishing. 

The pier has 2448 feet of fishing space available along the rails too!

Feeling like you want to extend your stay? The Gulf State Park Campground is just 1 and a half miles from the beaches, and offer nearly 500 full hookup campsites, as well as a swimming pool, splash pad, tennis court, volleyball fun and weekly activities!

Do they have baby facilities?

They do not sell baby food, however there are several grocery stores less than 5 miles away.

I’m Hungry! Can I get food at Gulf State Park?

The Grill is located in the Refuge Golf Club. They are open 7 days a week from 7am – 5pm. Items sold are fountain drinks, tea, beer, hamburgers, hotdogs, grill cheese, breakfast sandwiches, fries, onion rings, chips, candy bars & ice cream. In addition, snacks & ice cream can be purchased at the Camp store and at the Saltwater Pier.

Does Gulf State Park have a gift shop?

The Campstore sells food, drinks, paper products, t-shirts, beach towels, chairs, toys, umbrellas, and sunscreen.
The Pier sells food, drinks, ice cream, bait and tackle.
The Refuge Golf Club sells t-shirts, golf balls, and golf equipment.

Teachers corner

Gulf State Park Nature Center offers many different options for school field trips. Most field trips include an indoor lecture and an outdoor experience. For more information, call 251-948-7275 ext. 124

All of Gulf State Park facilities are wheelchair accessible, including handicap lifts at the pool.

Handicap restrooms are provided at all of their facilities. Changing tables are also offered at many of the facilities.
