About Chippewa Valley Museum

It's time for some adventures in history at the Chippewa Valley Museum in Eau Claire.

Through award-winning exhibits and beautifully preserved historic structures on the grounds, you can discover the story of the Chippewa Valley and its people, and tell larger stories of the nation through their own!

You can learn about a century of change for farm families and neighbors as you visit the farmhouse, the fields and the barn, as well as community gathering places - and discover how politics, economy and culture have influenced Chippewa Valley families both then and now.

Learn about past and present harvesting traditions, and even check out an 8ft long, and 4ft high 21-room doll house!

Kids can also enjoy hands-on learning fun in the RCU Children's Gallery, taking them on a journey to explore what different families ate, lived in and wore. They might even start thinking like a Historian!

There are three historic buildings on the grounds of the Chippewa Valley Museum, including an 1800s log cabin that might just be the oldest remaining example of a house built using kamnov corner joints in North America! If you don't know what those are - visit the Chippewa Valley Museum and ask!

There is so much more than just exhibits at the Chippewa Valley Museum too. There are fun activities for the family, AND a working vintage ice cream parlor. Now that's pretty cool!
