Dear Zoo Folks: Please LEAVE THE HELLBENDERS ALONE !You are hurting populations in the wild! Stop sending hordes of people into the rivers, flipping their rocks, handling, and collecting them to breed unsuccessfully for zoo exhibits, beer and donations. How many hellbenders have you killed when you flip their rocks and crush them in the “name of conservation?” You are doing more harm than good!!!! Please STOP exploiting Hellbenders!

Super Small. Walked through in 1 hour tops. The Camel ride is good but you only walk in a small circle once. The train is nice but I wish it was able to go through the whole property. They Definitely need some expansion and add a few exhibits. Other than that the staff is very nice and there is a rouge peacock that followed My cousin, my daughter and I, around the whole park… Was cool.

When my family visited this zoo we loved it. We were in Chat for the weekend we went to the zoo on Saturday and on Sunday. We got the guided tour and got to find out so much about these animals and their background. Before everyone puts down this zoo they should know some of the conditions of these animals. A lot of these animals didn’t come from the best conditions. I think the zoo keepers do an amazing job with the animals and truly love them. Some of these animals were truly mistreated before coming to the Chat Zoo and they are doing the best they can to keep them happy and comfortable. I live near Nashville and their zoo is amazing but it is so big and you don’t get that small setting like you do at the Chat zoo. I would recommend this zoo to anyone. I saw animals at this zoo that i didn’t see at some of the other ones. Before you put down the zoo please take the time to have to zoo workers tell you the background of the animals.

I’ve been going to this zoo for years now. I remember when they had the $1 Wednesday, which was AWESOME… too bad that ended. I love the zoo. The animals are not at all depressed as some of the other reviews stated. Some animals are just nocturnal. Some, such as leopards and jaguars, sleep an incredible amount of time per day. The staff there may not initiate conversation very often, but when you ask them a question, they are more than happy to answer, and they give lots of interesting facts. The exhibits are wonderful. They have a species of frog so rare, they can only be found in one area of a Brazilian rainforest near a giant waterfall. They exist nowhere else in the world (in the wild). Their Red Pandas are also pretty rare… and quite adorable. My favorite is the Crow. I even named him… and he will even (sometimes) talk to you. I think the some of the reasons people give this zoo a bad review is because the talking animals wouldn’t talk to them… but let’s face it… some people just are interesting or smart enough to converse with. Just go to Walmart if you want proof. The price is fair, and they often have deals on Groupon. I bought a year’s pass for my family, and I don’t regret it at all. If you don’t like this zoo… that is your problem. But don’t give it a bad review because it’s small, or the animals were sleeping. That’s just your experience. Other people have had great experiences. If you want to give a bad review… do it based on things such as cleanliness. And please, if you are going to review… spell your words correctly. It seems all of the bad reviews belong to people who can’t spell or have trouble deciding whether to use ‘they’re’, ‘their’, or ‘there’.The only bad thing I can say about this zoo is that sometimes (especially when food is involved) the goats get a little aggressive. And for an exhibit meant for children, I try to leave or avoid this exhibit if there are people who purchase the alfalfa pellets.

We planned to spend the day here but the kids got bored too quickly to enjoy a long visit. I think an hour, maybe two, would be enough. Unfortunately, we came on a day that the Camels had ‘off’ so the kids didn’t get to ride them. The carousel was dated and too loud to be indoors. The food options were VERY limited so I suggest making other eating plans. On the up side, we paid 1/2 price admission because of a reciprocal zoo pass!
