What is there to do?

Art is a wonderful thing! You can create it, you can admire it, and you can be inspired from it. So, if you're in Bakersfield, why not make a trip to the Bakersfield Museum of Art?

This fascinating, inspiring and educational museum offers families and kids a chance to explore the wonderful world of art, through exhibitions, programs, and special events.

The exhibitions run seasonally, so there will always be something new to enjoy across the year! The themes of the exhibitions are diverse, so you can find something that you really enjoy, and relate to.

Perhaps it's a look at a local artist, and their long-term work within California. Perhaps they are portraits of Bakersfield residents, to really capture the spirit and heart of the area.

The Bakersfield Museum of Art might even showcase work from local junior and high school students, which are great to inspire kids. Maybe one day their work will be hung from the walls!

The great thing about the Bakersfield Museum of Art, is that the collections are a great talking point for kids. The younger ones will love to just look at the colors, and the older ones can start to appreciate the meanings, techniques and shapes.

If those kids are inspired, the museum has a host of classes where they can actually create! Kids aged 3 to 6 can participate in Side By Side - the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month. These hour long workshops are a great way for them to get their hands messy and express themselves.

Art After School is perfect for students ages 7 to 12, there they can immerse themselves in drawing, painting and sculpture.

Art Attacks all round at this great art museum in Bakersfield...let's all get creative!
