The Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies showcases a regularly varying set of exhibitions exploring the history and culture of Banff and the Rockies.The exhibitions range from focusing on the area to focusing on it's inhabitants from artistic to factual, the dramatic to the mundane, with a great historical richness to draw from.
They have a family friendly approach so if you plan ahead and choose an exhibit of interest to the kids this is a satisfying visit. The exhibits often change too regularly, so it's worth keeping an eye on their website to make sure you visit when something of interest comes up!
Make sure you visit the Heritage Homes too. They're a unique part of the museum are aimed at preserving architectural styles and homes associates with the areas noteworth residents. There's currently a virtual tour so make sure you get in touch with the museum to book that!
The book shop onsite is also only daily for you to pick something up to read and take home with you, or you could shop online on their website if you prefer.
