About Ngilgi Cave

No-one said that your family day out has to be ABOVE ground, did they!?

Ngilgi Cave is a place where the whole family can explore ancient wonders, and stunning formations that were created over millions of years. Located underneath the limestone ridge that forms Cape Naturaliste, Ngilgi Cave is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Geographe Bay.

The cave was actually discovered all the way back in 1899, and was originally called Yallingup Cave. There is an amazing association with a rich Aboriginal legend, that describes the mighty battle between the evil spirit (Wolgine) and the good spirit (Ngilgi) - and that's why the cave is called what it is!

Isn't history fascinating?

Now, you can explore the cave and all the formations, such as the stalactites, stalagmites, shawl formations and helicitite. You can explore the caves at your own pace too with the Semi-Guided Show Cave Tour, or you can choose from one of the other adventures that the cave offers.

The Adventure Tour is always popular as it takes you to areas that are otherwise restricted, and the Ancient River Bed Tour is great for those who love adventure, as you actually have to crawl through the dark at one point! Ideally for those over adventurers over 10 years.

The tour durations start at 1 hour, and then increase - so you can pick the one that suits you and your family the best.

For those over 16s, the Ultimate Ngilgi and Crystal Crawl are available too!

There is an interpretive area to learn all about the history, as well as a playground, and BBQ facilities with picnic tables, and even walking trails so you really can make a day out of it.

Have a great underground adventure!
