About Dolphin Discovery Centre

The Dolphin Discovery Centre is a wealth of information and Delphinidae experiences and suitable for all ages.

Features include a discovery pool, several aquariums, 3D 360 degree digital dolphinarium, guided site tour, and a range of related 3D and 2D movies.

The Interpretive Centre has activity centres, interactive displays, feeding programmes and excursions, the aquariums depict the tale of our area, starting with freshwater rivers and ending with offshore reefs and temperate marine plants and creatures. Visitors can gain a unique experience by using embedded technology in combination with natural displays to create a memorable experience. The Centre combines wild dolphin experiences with Dolphin Tours and an Interaction Zone, where visitors can interact with dolphins.

The 360-degree Digital Dolphinarium and themed fish and coral aquariums are now on display at the Interpretive Centre, in addition to an interpretation of the Koombana Bay environment and its history—geological, indigenous, marine, and contemporary.

All kinds of people can have fun at the aquarium, where you can learn about the local marine ecosystem through hands-on experiences, feeding programs, and guided tours. Through immersive experiences that combine nature with technology, you can learn about the local freshwater river to offshore reef marine ecosystem. Visitors can enjoy a memorable experience at the Centre, which uses embedded technology to complement the wild dolphin experience at the Dolphin Interaction Zone and Dolphin Tours.

Outside there are grounds and lawns, beach access and an adventure playground. The one and a half hour Dolphin Eco Cruise takes you out amongst the wild variety, where you can see them (hopefully!) playing, feeding and exercising.

In the dolphin interaction zone visitors may stand in waist deep water and gently interact with the creatures if they approach. For even more contact one may book a guided swim tour with wild dolphins in their natural habitat at Koombana Bay.
