Located near Vero Beach in Florida, the botanical gardens are filled with stunning native and tropical plants, as well as that Florida sun and charm! It’s a great place for kids to explore and get close to nature. In fact, there are around 18 acres to explore!
The McKee Botanical Garden features winding pathways, and majestic palms, and beautifully colorful waterlilies – a popular attraction for visitors.
Rich in history, McKee dates back 80 years and is recognized as one of Florida’s first and most treasured attractions. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and features two unique structures designed and built by founder and folk artist, Waldo Sexton.
The gardens have great fun for the kids too! Make sure that you check out the McKee’s Garden Discovery Backpacks, perfect for kids aged 3 to 12 years. Each backpack features an educational guide, as well as a number of tools for exploration. There are five themes to choose from, including It’s A Bugs World, and Garden Explorer!
The gardens also have fun festivals, events and temporary exhibits throughout the year, so you can look ahead and make sure you put those important dates in the diary.
