About Zilker Park

Think Austin is just a big city? Think again! Zilker Park is a whopping 351 acres alongside Austin's skyline where families can enjoy a ton of fun activities together, out in the fresh air!

Zilker Park borders the 416 acres of Lady Bird Lake (Cute name!), so the park has all the land and water you could want!

For those swimming fans on those hot Texan days, Barton Springs Pool is a great play to cool off.  If you want something a little more adventurous and challenging, you can try kayaking, canoeing, and even stand up paddle boards - all available to rent! Get out there on the water!

Lady Bird Hike and Bike Trail is the most popular place in downtown Austin to enjoy a run or a walk, and just take in the nature around you.

Ponds, waterfalls, streams and gardens hiding in the Zilker Botanical Gardens are a fun place for kids to explore, hide and enjoy nature up close.

There are plenty of shady spots to sit and enjoy your lunch or just play, and if you still have energy left you can head to the volleyball courts!

"That sounds great, but what would be REALLY great is if they held events there too!"

Funny you say that - they do! They have popular and fun year-round events, where families and their kids can enjoy music, festivals, and even marathons. Austin City Limits Music Festival is always an exciting event, and the Zilker Park festival is great fun for kids.

There is even a Zilker Hillside Theater where you can enjoy a broadway style production. Why not!

The park isn't called "the jewel in the heart of Austin" for nothing!
