Family Days Out at the Country Music Hall of Fame!

Apr 30,2018read

Family Days Out were lucky enough to visit the iconic Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee, and we weren't disappointed!

If you are a country music fan, then this is by far a place not to be missed.

The building itself is stunning, and you are hit by a sense of grandeur as soon as you walk in. You arrive near the cafe and the gift shop, but don't be distracted by how tempting all the very cool music-related items you can buy, save that until the end!

Part of the museum is the new Taylor Swift Education Center, which was created to give kids space to be able to take music classes, and learn their craft.

You can step in and see one of Swift's dresses, as well as write on the wall what inspires you about music. There are also activity sheets for kids, so a bit of fun to start your day with!

But then you get into the museum proper, and exhibits just fill the rooms, and they are wonderful.

You're taken through the history of country music right back to the 1930s, with a range of memorabilia that would hold up against any of the best museums in the world. You can see real life cars that stars drove, guitars that were used in performances, and outfits galore.

The memorabilia are surrounded by information boards explaining the history of music in that era, but also the stories behind what you are seeing, so it really is a completely fascinating and immersive experience.

You can see Shania Twain's iconic leopard print outfit (from the video "That Don't Impress Me Much"), Elvis's gold car, and outfits worn by Loretta Lynn herself.

Kids can even visit Taylor Swift's tour bus area, and "record a hit", or get their photo taken in the center of a guitar.

We had a great time, and the visual installations worked really well with the exhibits. Whilst various types of music were playing within most exhibits, the design ensured that the audio didn't overflow into the next one. It was done brilliantly, and was so engaging.

And yes, the gift shop was certainly a highlight too! We came away wanting to buy every album and every biography we could see. It is also a museum that offers changing exhibits, so next time you visit there might be something new to see too.

We will definitely be back next time we're in Nashville! Have a great day, y'all!
