About The Dayton Art Institute

Founded all the way back in 1919, the Dayton Art Institute is one of the area's premier fine arts museums, and YOU can visit on your next family day out!

Are you ready to immerse yourselves in the wonderful world of art?

Sitting atop a hill on the edge of the Great Miami River, the museum is home to some incredible special exhibits, as well as collections of art from all around the world.

In fact, the collection spans 5,000 years of art history, with important works from Oceania, Asia, and Europe, as well as some incredible pieces of American fine and decorative arts - don't miss the outdoor sculptures either!

In fact, there are 26,000 objects within the collection, and at any given time, the institute galleries display about 1,000 of these works.

Art is so much more than just paintings, and at this popular art institute, children can explore all the various techniques, genres and forms that art comes in, and even be inspired! It's a great place for them to start exploring what they love and don't love about the art, and questioning the reasons why.

If all that art wasn't enough, the Dayton Art Institute hosts concerts, youth and family programs, social events and classes throughout the year, AND there is also an interactive gallery for families and children, to stimulate creativity and curiosity.
