About this activity

The San Bernardino County Museum, in Redlands, California, is a regional museum with exhibits and collections that showcase cultural and natural history for the family. Throughout your family day out, you can experience a number of areas, including special exhibits, the Exploration Station live animal discovery center, extensive research collections, and public programs suitable for all!

On the Main Level of the museum, kids can walk through the Hall of History and see historic baskets, pottery and tools that tell the stories of human history. The Hall of Sciences is where kids can see an amazing array of fossils that represent millions of years of life in the San Bernardino area and of course, there's the museum store!

The Upper Level offers an insight into the amazing diversity of life in the region, including birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. The family can take a journey through the geology of the county, exploring caves, rocks that make up the mountains, and even meet a giant sloth!

Outside the museum you can explore amazing nature, including citrus groves and beautiful orange blossoms. Kids can enjoy interactive fun as they find-a-fossil and step into the ONLY dinosaur footprints even found in southern California!

Don't miss the impressive Sonoran Desert cactus garden or the Mojave Desert garden!

The Exploration Station is the museum's popular live animal and nature gallery. Here you can come face-to-face with an exotic animal, or perhaps one that lives in your own back yard!
