About Old Salem Museums and Gardens

It's time we head back to the days of Salem that you only read in books! Historic Salem is waiting at the Old Salem Museum and Gardens, and the perfect way for kids to see history come to life right in front of their very eyes!

Old Salem Museums and Gardens offer historical exploration perfect for families through their two museums and award winning restoration landscapes.

Old Salem comprises the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts, specializing in settler art, and the restored Historic Town Of Salem. The latter offers an immersive insight into the past where every building is traditionally occupied with authentic period cooking, gardening, construction and crafts taking place for your observation.

On any day, you will be able to see first hand the trades that would have been performed right where you are standing...many, many years ago (about 200 to be exact!)

Workers and craftsman will re-create puppet shows, crafts, and every day life. We bet it's quite different to the lives that you know today!

As well as the acres of reclaimed and restored landscapes and buildings that can be found in the Historic Town of Salem, there are also exhibits of art that can tell you more about the fascinating history.

Old Salem is great for kids because there are some hands-on activities perfect for them. They can also participate in the old school where they can take a deportment lesson, use a quill pen and enjoy role play settings, plus take a tour of the St. Philips Heritage Centre.

History really does come to life at Old Salem Museum and Gardens, and they want YOU to be a part of it's future!
