Get ready to take a walk on the wild side! North Carolina Zoo is a whopping 500 acres filled with animals from across two continents, where the whole family can come face to face with weird and wonderful animals.
It's not only a place for fun and excitement, but learning. All of the exhibits have been created to resemble the natural habitats of the animals, so kids can witness the animals how they would act in their own wild! Imagine coming face to face with these amazing wild beasts!
Ever wanted to go on safari in Africa? At North Carolina Zoo, you can explore the exhibits which will make you feel like you are on those magical plains! Make sure you leave about 2 hours to explore this region - there's a LOT to see!
For all those bird loving families, the Aviary is where you will love the most. The R.J Reynold Forest Aviary is an amazing collections of over 3,000 tropical plants, as well as dozens of exotic birds. How many species do you think you will find!
Of course, you're in North Carolina, so what better way to celebrate the animals of the USA, than in the North American exhibit! From creatures from the hot Sonoran Desert, to that cold and ice Rocky Coast, kids will be surprised how many creatures there are from their own country!
Make sure you allow about 3 hours for this section because there's certainly a LOT to see!
We told you that North Carolina Zoo is more than just animals though! The KidZone is a GREAT place for those kids aged 2 to 10, with nature play areas, as well as a stream to splash around in (so don't forget those rain boots!)
With a carousel and a place to actually hand feed giraffes, we think you will have a ROAR-ing time at North Carolina Zoo!
$8 (Ages 2 - 12)
Some of the animals, like the African species, might not be able to handle the cold weather so if it's cold they might be moved.
There are restaurants, cafes and snack bars for you to get your tummies filled! With sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, and pizza...you won't go hungry!
Healthy Eating The cafes sell salads, wraps, fruit and vegetables, and of course bottles water.
It's such a great learning experience for kids! They have group programs, and resources for all grades, and would LOVE to have you at their zoo!
Of course there is a gift shop! What would a trip to the zoo be without that plush animal or toy!
The zoo has 5 miles of tree-lined trails, and there are accessible trams and buses if you need. Wheelchairs are available to rent too
