Mount Rainier is an icon among the Washington State landscape, and YOU can visit the national park to explore it - yes, we're off to Mount Rainier National Park for our next family day out!

Ascending over 14,000 ft above sea level, Mount Rainier is actually an active volcano, and is the most glaciated peak in the contiguous USA, and even spawns rive major rivers! (kids, do you know what they are?)

The landscapes across Mount Rainier National Park are stunning, and so varied. You can see the wildflower meadows cling near the icy volcano, whilst ancient forest cloaks the lower slopes.

Love wildlife? Well grab something cameras because there is plenty around! This national park really is a discovery of a lifetime waiting to be explored

For families who love outdoor adventure, this park has so much for you to enjoy. There are hiking trails, scenic drives, and even mountain climbing! Most roads are open from late May to early October, and all offer stunning views!

The best way to start your adventure is to head to one of the Visitor Centers and speak to staff, as here you can also pick up information about what there is to do. You can also find out about Ranger-led programs too!

With fishing, boating, camping, cycling, and plenty of things to do with kids, Mount Rainier National Park really is an amazing adventure!

Please note that the address listed below is the physical address for the park administration building and should not be used for GPS systems. Instead use the address 39000 State Route 706 E, Ashford, WA 98304. This will take you on SR 706 east past the Administration Building to the Nisqually Entrance. It is recommended that visitors refer to road maps in addition to using GPS units when driving to the park.

Mount Rainier National Park FAQ’s

Mount Rainier Guest Services operates two restaurants, two snack bars, a cafe, and a small general store within the park.

Many facilities and roads in the park are only open seasonally and close in the winter. In addition to checking the hours of operation, make sure to check road status before coming to the park.

It's always a good idea to take your own supplies when you're visiting a national park, including snacks and plenty of water

Although many of the developed areas at Mount Rainier National Park predate laws requiring fully accessible facilities, they are working to ensure that all visitors can experience and enjoy the park

The Access Pass is a free, lifetime admission pass issued to U.S. citizens or persons who permanently reside in the United States and who have a medical determination and documentation of blindness or permanent disability.

Help avoid summer congestion by visiting on weekdays, and arriving in early morning or late afternoon, can help avoid crowds, long entrance station lines and delays, and difficulty finding a place to park.
