We have been renting homes on the Outer Banks for years and have never had such a negative experience with a house. The beach was awesome, however, we are rating the home and realty company here….#6090, Castle Bleu. When we arrived at the realty office we were pleasantly surprised to find the house ready early. Hah! We soon figured out why. Not only wasn’t it cleaned, it was filthy. We called, they sent the cleaner back, but she only hit the areas we mentioned, didn’t do anything else. And worse, a bug control service arrived after we had been there ½ hour to spray the house for ants and roaches, which were everywhere. He was upset that we got there before he did. The chemical smell was terrible. Then, the roaches started crawling out from their hiding places and dying all over the floor, especially in the master bedroom. We noticed a musty, urine smell in the house before it was sprayed and now we know why. Roaches leave their scent where they live. It came back after spray smell went away. Roof shingles were missing and water ran into the house and dripped till the carpet was soaked in the master and living room by the sliding doors. Master furniture is broken and the mattress is 6” shorter than the frame. The decking all needs replaced – several pieces broken out causing unsafe conditions. The master shower dripped constantly, the tub drain didn’t, carpeting filthy at best, frig is all rusted out, stove so un-level we had to shove towels behind the top so we could cook, never did get the surround sound to work and the batteries were dead in all remotes. Half the outside lights didn’t work, ceiling vents are filthy with black crud 2’ all around them, everything metal was corroded, outlet in master bath did not work, the trees/bushes extend so far in the driveway they scraped our car. We realized it was pointless to call about anything and will certainly not rent this house or use Resort Realty again!

The first week of Sept 2014, my large group of friends and I rented a 8 bedroom waterfront house at Nag’s Head through Resort Realty. This was my first time booking a large oceanfront property in a different state for a large group. I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth everything went for us from the time we checked in through the entire week. Truly felt like our own home that we could enjoy and focus on spending quality time with our close friends and family. We were all very impressed with the entire experience from start to finish! One big bonus was the early check-in at 1pm on Sunday since it was a 7+ hour journey for us. Also, the keyless doorlock entry system worked flawlessly and was super convenient for our large group where folks could come and go as they wished throughout the day/week. Also, I had very little contact with the resort realty agents as there were zero maintenance issues throughout the week which is impressive for a house of that size with all the possible things that could go wrong or break. Everything in the house was very clean and in working condition. I can’t speak for other houses in OBX, but I would definitely recommend Resort Realty based on my group’s experience at our Nag’s Head rental!

We rented the Coral Castle from 8/30/14 to 9/6/14. Resort Realty made the rental process effortless. The house was beautiful. It was in excellent shape. The beds were super comfy. Lots of stairs, but that is to be expected in a 3 story home. The game room on the bottom floor was great to pass away the evening hours with a pool table, foosball table, and Ms PacMan video game. There were also lots of board games that our family used. The private pool was WONDERFUL and the hot tub was GREAT as well. We had an excellent time EVERY day and the weather was perfect EVERY day. We will go back! :))

We rented Smooth Landings in Kill Devil Hills. The home was well equipped and pretty nice. However, it was filthy. It was obviously not cleaned. They had put sanitation rings around the toilet seats but failed to notice the fecal matter on the seat! The sinks, tubs, mirrors, and floors were not cleaned. The dust was thick and sticky on all the furniture. The last tenant’s linen was still in the house and no one even bothered to put the comforters back on the bed. I had to clean everything! I asked the company to send someone out to do the floors and all they brought was a vacuum. They don’t let you check in until 4pm or later so they can clean! Resort Realty will never get my business again. They never responded to my email.

Stay at your own risk – this is a heartless company. Our pet dog fell from a 3rd-story balcony, and had to be euthanized as a result of negligent property maintenance on the part of the owners (an unsecured railing board). She (the dog) broke her spine and severed her spinal cord in the fall – which occurred in front of 6, 3 and 1 year-old children. This accident happened due to one reason only – the property was not maintained adequately. We are fortunate that our 1-year old daughter did not discover the danger first!Resort Realty, and the property owners, handled the incident in an absolutely terrible fashion – ignoring our calls and emails, offering very little in the way of reimbursement for the animal they took from us and the vacation that was ruined (a credit towards next year’s administration fee – borderline insulting!). BEWARE of Property 1040, “SeaQuinns” – and look elsewhere for a realty/rental company. Resort Realty is the worst.
