About this activity

Just off the iconic Route 66, in the heart of Albuquerque Old Town, there's a place where you can discover the art, the history, and the people of the city - we're talk about the Albuquerque Museum

The History of Our City is one of the museum's permanent collections, and a great way to get your day of learning and discovery started!

You can explore the story of the city from even before written history came about, right through to present day via an engaging, fun and interactive atmosphere.

There are four galleries in this exhibit, all connected to one central gallery, and within them you can see hundreds of Albuquerque's most beloved artifacts.

There are plenty of hands-on fun for the kids too, as they can make their own family Coat of Arms, electronically send a Route 66 postcard to a friend, and even create a personal "quilt" of images from the collections!

Another permanent collection at the museum is the Art in New Mexico experience, where you can see important local art taken from their collection that nears 10,000 works.

It's not just modern art either! Did you know that since the arrival of humans over 13,000 years ago, New Mexico has been a center for artistic production and creativity?

Also at the Albuquerque Museum are a number of changing exhibits, so you can always go and see something new. It might be an exhibit on a specific artist, or an exhibit on the people who once called the city home.

A place where you can learn even more about the city of Albuquerque, and uncover it's rich history and heritage!
