About this activity

Seven Stories in Tyne and Wear is a vibrant museum and a paradise for book lovers of all ages offering a fun-filled adventure for the whole family. Located in the heart of the Ouseburn Valley area of Newcastle, Seven Stories is housed in a beautiful Victorian building that was once a flour mill. Today, it is a haven for children's literature, with seven floors of exhibits, interactive displays, and hands-on activities that celebrate the magic of books.

From the moment you step inside, you'll be transported into a world of wonder and adventure. The ground floor is home to the museum shop, where you can pick up books, toys, and gifts inspired by your favourite children's stories. From classics like The Cat in the Hat and The Chronicles of Narnia to modern favourites like Harry Potter and Diary of a Wimpy Kid, there's something for everyone.

As you make your way up to the first floor, you'll discover the Story Station, a magical space where children can listen to stories being read aloud. The Story Station is the perfect place to kick off your visit, as it sets the tone for the rest of the museum - a place where stories come to life and anything is possible.

Moving up to the second floor, you'll find the exhibitions. These change regularly, so there's always something new to discover. Past exhibitions have celebrated the works of beloved authors like Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton, and explored themes like fairy tales and superheroes. The exhibits are interactive and immersive, with plenty of opportunities for children to get involved and engage with the stories.

On the third floor, you'll find the Studio, a space dedicated to hands-on activities and workshops. Here, children can get creative and make their own stories, using a range of materials and techniques. From writing and illustrating to puppetry and drama, there's something for every budding author and artist.

As you make your way up to the higher floors, you'll discover more exhibits and activities that celebrate the magic of books. From the attic, where you'll find a treasure trove of vintage books and manuscripts, to the rooftop garden, where you can enjoy views of the city, there's something new and exciting around every corner.
