Hardcastle Craggs is a National Trust beauty spot containing a wooded valley with a 19th century Gibson Mill at its heart. Situated in the South Pennines, there is more than 400 acres of woodlands to explore with stunning views in every direction!
Most of the walking trails are suitable for families of any ability and there are lots of routes to take too! Just beyond the mill there's a greassy area where the kids can have a go at den building too!
There are more than 15 miles of footpaths to explore, with waterfalls and streams tumbling around. The popular routes are waymarked with coloured arrows to help you navigate through the woodlands too, and there's lots of map boards in the car parks.
The Estate track walk is a mile long, and you'll explore the historic mill and it's suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs too.
The Crags Constitutional trail is two miles and there's lots of wildlife to spot along the way. Including herons, dippers and more! The Gibson Mill is off the grid and houses regular exhibitions too!
At the heart of the woods, you can stop off at the shed cafe for an ice-cream if you need it!
Access on foot via riverside walk from Hebden Bridge. Pennine Way and Bridleway both pass close to the property. Midgehole Car Park is 1.8 miles (roughly a 40-minute walk) from Hebden Bridge railway station, with Gibson Mill another mile from there.
