Fowey Aquarium

Fowey Aquarium is located in the historic Fowey Town Quay and you'll get a glimpse into the marine life that is found around the Cornish coast. It's a great day out for the whole family! 

The aquarium is small in size, but there are lots of marine creatures on display! There's a wide range of fish and even eels too, as well as a variety of crabs and lobsters which you'll find lurking in the corners. Children can enjoy the touch pool where they can pick up a shore crab and even prawns! 

The aquarium was opened in 1952, and it still has the original tanks. Fresh sea water is pumped in daily at high tide but there's plenty of sponges and tube works that arrive as plankton in the water and then grow in the aquarium itself. The majority of fish are souces locally from fisherman and they use lots of local fish food too. 

Make sure to look at all of the tanks to spot the creatures, it's a great opportunity for the family to learn about marine life in Cornwall and the creatures that inhabit the waters. 

The centre is open year round, but closed in December and the centre is wheelchair accessible too! No need to book, just turn up!
