About Dorset Heritage Museum

Dorset Heritage Museum officially opened on July 1st, 2001 and is located in Dorset Ontario at the crossroads of Muskoka & Haliburton featuring museum exhibits of early pioneer life, local settlers, traditional logging practices, and historic information pertaining to pioneer settlement of the Dorset area.

The museums holds regular exhibits for adults and young people. The museum also provides visitors with information on the local area and participates in community events all year round. The staff are available to answers your questions and will happily explain to you about the ever changing history! 

Every year they hold a Heritage Day and is celebrated on the first Saturday of July, with lots of outdoor fun to have! There are steam powered engines, antique cars, photo boots, face painting, historic books from local authors, kids zone fun crafts and games area and of course lots of fun interactive outdoor exhibits! You'll also find some great shopping opportunities in their unique market place to pick yourself up a gift. It's a great community events for the whole family to get involved in and have some fun!
