About Boyds Cove Beothuk Interpretation Centre

Boyds Cove Beothuk Interpretation Centre is a representation of what was here 300 years ago. You'll be able to tour the centre where there are exhibits and artifacts that will help you appreciate the now vanished culture of the area.

From the interpretation centre, you can follow a 1.5km groomed walking trail to the village site which contans just an outline of the housepits which is the only evidence of the Beothuk people who once lived here. Along the trail you'll see a sculpture designed by renowned artist Gerald Squires.

The Spirit Garden is a short walk from the centre and is dedicated to the memory of the Beothuk. You leave a token made out of materials available on site. There are viewing decks overlooking the site where you can imagine what it would have looked like all 300 years ago. Make sure you pick up one of the Discovery Backpacks too, which are available at the front desk which will help you explore the site in more detail.

There's no food on site, but there's plenty of picnic tables and blankets available which will help you to enjoy the grounds.
