What is there to do?

Get ready, raise those curtains…it’s snow time!

Corin Forest Mountain Recreation gives those families in Canberra, Sydney and nearby areas an easily accessible option for a fantastic snow experience. They have alpine adventures for all, at any time of the year!

What would a snow experience be without a toboggan, building a snowman or snowball fights? Their two purpose-built snow play areas have a crazy cool snowmaking systems which provides snow cover all winter long! You can bring your own toboggan but they must be of a plastic mould. Otherwise you can hire them and warm snow gear there.

Rug up and get set for beginner skiing or snowboarding on the beginner hill, with lessons from trained instructor available. If you can’t make it during the day, Night Ski & Ride sessions are now available! Experience the magic of skiing under the stars in the middle of a national forest, every Wednesday to Saturday nights.

Warm up with a hot chocolate and roast giant marshmallows by the roaring open fire in the lodge, with a delicious winter menu also available.

In the warmer months, they have a 1.2lm Bobsled Alpine Slide where you can watch the native forest blur past you at nearly 60km/hr – that’s pretty fast! Of course, you can also enjoy it at your own pace, so don’t be nervous about trying it!

This activity is for any age, and every rider over 8 can ride solo so they can have total control of the bobsled. Little ones you get to ride free with your paying adult!

With picnic, café and bathroom facilities available all year round, Corin Forest Mountain Recreation makes for the perfect family day out.

How much does it cost?

Adults: Free entry, pay and play attractions. Snowplay $15. Single ride Alpine Slide $7.

Children: Same as adult.

When can we go?

8:30am - 5pm

Winter activities until October.

Any top tips?

There are some fun walks to do in the area. 1.6km past the Corin Forest front gate is the start of a 7.5km walk to Square Rock. Here the walk climbs from the Corin Road, through granite outcrops, open grasslands and snowgums before arriving at Square Rock from which there are sweeping views of the Brindabella Ranges, the Cotter Valley and to Canberra. The round trip (moderate walking) takes approximately 4 hours. Pretty impressive!

I’m Hungry!

The Cafe overlooking the pond offers refreshments together with normal amenities. In winter the Cafe has a roaring open fire, creating a cosy atmosphere. Fun! - Fun things to do with kids and best places to visit in the US
