About Australias Industry World

Australia's Industry World is a fully functioning heavy industrial centre which welcomes visitors via tours and open areas to experience the coal, grain, copper and steel manufacturing plants, plus introduction to the vitality of the port itself.

It's indubitoubly an educational experience but younger visitors will gain much from the sights, sounds and smells of the trip, with eye opening enlightenment about the scope of the industrial world.

The Public Steel Tour is 2.5hrs long and naturally covers some serious working territory so under 10yrs are not permitted and strict rules apply to clothing and footwear etc.

Steelworks Tour
You will receive a brief safety training at the visitor center, then be outfitted with protective equipment (PPE) before starting the fully sensory "steelmaking" experience. During this tour, you will see enormous stocks of raw materials as well as enormous locomotives and gear while exploring the Port Kembla Steelworks facility.

Twilight Steelworks Tour
It is definitely a unique experience to explore the Port Kembla Steelworks complex as the sun sets and converts it into an incredible light show spectacle.  As you tour the Continuous Slab Caster, Basic Oxygen Steelmaking plant,  and Hot Strip Mill in the shadows, you will "feel the steel". The perfect way to cap off your Twilight Tour is to get back to the Visitor Center for some refreshments.

Working Port Tour
Once inside the Inner Harbour, you can see the Port's important facilities, including the Port Kembla Coal Terminal, the 2nd-largest coal terminal in this area. You wil also explore the Grain Terminals, the state's main auto import facility, as well as the cruise ship berth, which serves as a vital entry point for the state's construction, manufacturing, agricultural, auto, and mining industries.

Blue Mile History Tour
The tour includes the Forts (Flagstaff Hill & Smiths Hill), Wollongong Harbour, the Tramway, , and the Old Courthouse. These are some of the most important historical landmarks along the Blue Mile. During this tour, you will learn about Foreshore's history. Find out more about people who once lived there, sea bathing, salt production, local trading, etc.
